People love to know the story behind the website and person and inspiration behind the designs and creations, and it got me thinking.
As l'm naturally quite inquisitive, ok lets face it, nosy, l love reading about folk and what got them started, what inspired them and generally all about them.. Would l love a G&T or good old fashioned cuppa with this person?
Where were you born and who inspired you to start?
l was born some 50 odd years ago (cough cough) in Leeds in the heart of textile rich Yorkshire, Northern England, and as long as l can remember, was gluing sticking, painting and generally making a mess, but loving every minute of the creative mayhem.
My love of textiles and creativity came from within, but it wasn't until many years later, after discovering my 2nd cousin on Ancestry.com did l finally understand where my passions and creative gene came from. It was Susan who taught me to crochet, and l've never looked back.
l started out waaaay back as a teenager with a part time job serving at a fish and chip shop in my home village when l was just 14, and at 17 progressed to collecting beer glasses in the pub just round the corner and eventually landing my dream student job of pulling pints at the weekends. As far as l was concerned my life was complete!..
After college l started various jobs in sales in the hotel industry and after 20 years or so realised l'd spent years in a career l hadn't enjoyed. Time for a change, and l was fortunate enough to be able to start my journey and passion of recycling, sustainability and the repurposing of fabrics and wools where ever possible......
After a move to France in early 2014, Dizzy & Co Designs was established in January 2016 and in November 2019, l opened a small shop selling my creations. Seven years later living the dream with ponies, chickens, raising pigs, goats and sheep, we moved back to the UK and began life living on a Dutch barge, travelling the estuaries and waterways, continuing life near the sea and nature.
Dizzy the westie dog, faithful friend, lady with "Westitude" and constant companion. An old lady with a big heart who knows all my secrets and even for all the treats, cuddles and hugs in the world... would never spill the beans.
